American Airlines pilots allowed to fly on the iPad

The Federal Aviation Administration has allowed U.S. pilots to American Airlines Flight use in flight tablet iPad to view digital maps and flight documentation for reading. This is with reference to its sources reported ZDNet.

Resolution shall take effect on Friday, December 16. First, the plates will be used on the Boeing 777, and then on other types of aircraft from the fleet of American Airlines. Pilots have the right to consult with the iPad at all phases of flight.

Argued that the iPad replaces the pilot several volumes of paper documents weighing up to 15 kilograms. Does this mean that traditional maps and instructions will no longer take on board, ZDNet did not specify.

Before you get official permission to use the iPad in the cockpit, American Airlines conducted a six-month trial, which proved the effectiveness of using the tablet on the board.

Example American Airlines intend to follow other U.S. airlines, including United Airlines, UPS and Alaska Airlines. The latter also took part in the test program the tablet.

Recall that the predicted analytical agency Canalys, popular tablet iPad would allow Apple's take the lead in the global PC market to HP in July 2012.
