
The new high-speed memory card format is called XQD and can transfer up to 125 MB per second. The new format approved association CFA (CompactFlash Association).
XQD will replace the cards CompactFlash (CF), which are mainly used in professional photo and video equipment. The advantage of the new cards will be durable and writing speed. Now the fastest CF card today, this figure does not exceed 100 MB per second.
Size of the card will make XQD 38.5 by 29.8 by 3.8 mm, which means it will be a little more than card SD. The card is used an interface similar to bus PCI Express.

Format CF card was developed by SanDisk in 1994. To date, standard CF (specification 6.0) admits a maximum theoretical data transfer rate up to 167 MB per second.
