E-mail is losing popularity

In the framework of large-scale study comScore confirmed that e-mail is displaced from the World Wide Web. Among users aged 18 to 24 years to use e-mail has been reduced by one third from a year earlier. Reduction is also recorded in the 35-44 age category (one percent) and 55-64 (7 percent).

The research team directly relates this decline to a multitude of mobile devices. Members belonging to the younger age groups, have not only smartphones, but also MP3-players with functional smartphones, such as the iPod touch, as well as tablets like the iPad. Although the mobile versions of sites such as Gmail, there are, they are mostly useless, since the pre-installed on devices, applications run faster and can publicize the letters came in the background.

These changes can become a "permanent shift" suggest comScore, as there is no reason to expect the popularity of home PCs. According to IDC, sales exceeded sales of tablet PCs, while smartphones are selling better than PCs and tablets together.
