Microsoft does not give discounts on Windows 8

Microsoft will not cut prices for upgrade of the operating system, Windows 8, as it did three years ago with Windows 7. "I think that we should not expect additional discounts, prices will remain at the level of updates for Windows 7. In the case of Windows 7, Microsoft has been a good reason to lower prices for upgrades - forcing consumers to go with Windows Vista, is now urgent need to transition to the new system, in principle, no, "- said Stephen Baker, an analyst at NPD Group.

Three years ago, Microsoft slashed prices on the packages to upgrade to Windows 7 - Home Premium for $ 10 (or 8%), whereas the full version of Windows 7 Home Premium price was reduced by 17% or $ 30 with every distribution. Other versions of Windows have remained essentially unchanged.

To date, Microsoft has not released pricing on Windows 8, but experts believe they will appear in about a month.

Baker said that the role of the Windows desktop computers are still very high, although in the minds of the mass market and there are already other systems such as Mac OS. Obviously, it is understood and Microsoft, so essential stimulants to reduce the price from a marketing point of view as a whole does not. "I think that Microsoft will not be so quick to discount Windows in the mass market," - says Baker.

At the same time, analysts noted that the actual reserve price relief from Microsoft is available. Even if you do not take into account that Windows 8 will also work on the plates, and the demand for the new system will probably be great with this operating system and Microsoft is also launching an online catalog of Windows Store, which the company is working on a wave that could make up for a discount which will provide for the purchase.

"I think that Microsoft understands and this fact, but will not reduce the price no matter what. If you shake the market position of Windows, Microsoft always be able to implement the subsidy scheme," - says Baker.

According to statistics, the majority of sales are now Windows Microsoft gets from the so-called OEM-sales, that is preset by the operating system on new PCs. Against this background, the company is influenced by the demand for computers. In retail there will be only two versions of Windows 8 - Normal and Pro. The version of Ultimate, which is the example of Vista, and 7 proved to be ineffective, Microsoft decided to give up.
